2023. Short Documentary (6:44)
Directed by: David Ng and Jen Sungshine

“Preserving Legacies: The Lim Sai Hor Kow Mock Association - Community, Heritage, Family” is a short documentary that profiles the Lim Benevolent Association in Chinatown, a historic family clan association that owns a special building in Vancouver’s Chinatown, originally built by the Chinese Empire Reform Society in 1903. The documentary grows from 5+ year community engaged, social practice process between Love Intersections (David Ng and Jen Sungshine) and the Lim Sai Hor Kow Mock Benevolent Association, that included exploring archives, public art, oral histories, and visual art. With a reciprocal interest in the future of Chinatown and preservation of benevolent associations, Love Intersections and the Lim Association embarked on a multi year journey to engage audiences to be in conversation with living oral histories of the Lim (林) clan, whose still-beating heart and spirit flow through the veins of Chinatown.
